Few days ago, love filled the air as everyone celebrated St Valentines day. Some people ended up abusing the main purpose of the celebration, while some others used the opportunity to visit the less privileged and show love to them thereby leaving people with a huge question of what love really is.
Yesterday 19th of February at Difference Makers International (DMI) reality youths talkshow the word "Love" was discussed.
The Talkshow started at exactly 3pm.
The President and founder of DMI Icon Chidi James Okpe made his opening remarks and defined love as an intense feeling of deep affection for someone or something. In his words, he said "The definition of love is vague yet so simple; despite it's simplicity, it is the most difficult and rare virtue people practice". "People do evil due to lack of love". He furthermore urged youths and members to practice genuine love so as to make this world a better place to live in. He rounded up his speech with a quotable quote "This world will be a better place when the power of love exceeds the love of power".
One of the members Icon Michael Eni defined love as an action word, in his words, he said "Love is what we practice not what we say, it is a show of care and affection for someone; Love is not about dating someone, it's about changing them".
Another member, Icon Chima defined love as God. He went ahead to urge youths not to attach a canal knowledge to love. He made references to the Bible and advised youths to embrace God as love. He said "Any love apart from LOVE is LUST"
Icon Divine C also defined love as show of care and advised youths to grow in love instead of falling in love.
Icon Chidi summarized the talkshow by elaborating on the attributes of love. He said "Love is selfless, Love never gives up, Love is not proud, Love is patient, Love is an action word and DMI is a family where love rules".
The talkshow rounded up at exactly 6pm when Apostle Ugochukwu an invited guest made his remarks and closing prayer. He praised the group and advised the youths to use the opportunity and develop themselves. The Talkshow ended with a light refreshment.
Talking to one of our corespondents, Appostle Ugochukwu who is a first timer in the event expressed his excitement and praised DMI for a work well done.
He also said few words about love; " Love begins from you, it starts from your inner being, when you love yourself you find it easier to love others. He also cautioned the youths on canal love.
Some others expressed their gratitude for the new knowledge they gained and also praised DMI for creating a platform like this.
