Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha Believes Nigerian's Are Not Happy As He Urges Air Force To Create Happiness Department

11 December 0

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has said that 89 per cent of Nigerians are not truly happy, maintaining that only "four per cent could really be happy to some extent, while seven per cent might claim to be happy."
He argued that the vital aspect of human existence, which is happiness, must be addressed.
Okorocha, who recently created the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment, made the claim when officers of the Nigeria Air Force, led by the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Sampson Akpasa, visited him at the Government House at the weekend.
Okorocha said agitations, insurgence, and hate-speech come up when people are not happy.
He said,
'' I commend the Nigeria Air Force for the good job they are doing in this country, especially their fight against insurgency and currently, what is happening in Numan and all the efforts they are making to restore peace in that area. I’m particularly proud of the Nigerian Air Force.
But one thing is certain, if you observe recently, the level of crisis and agitations are on the increase. While we fight insurgence, I would advise that we also should find the cause of this agitation.
Agitation comes up when people are not happy and the whole essence of life is to be happy. For this reason, I advice that the Air Force too, just like what I have done recently, which most people didn’t understand, should create a department for Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment.
This will help to address the need of even junior officers, who may have some forms of dissatisfaction in the discharge of their duties.
Sometimes, you may think that they are happy when they are not and this sabotages the efforts of the Federal Government, the governor counselled.
In Imo State, we have introduced the Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment.
I urge the Air Force to emulate what we are doing in Imo State to let everyone have a sense of belonging,'' Okorocha added.

Osinbajo’s Clarion Call For The Rebirth Of A New Nigeria

10 December 0

''A new tribe can emerge. A tribe of men and women from all tribes, ethnicities and faiths; built on principles that all persons are created equal; that resources attain their greatest use when they are rendered for the benefit of all…''
'' In the womb of this ‘New Tribe’ is the greatness of Nigeria.''
KEYNOTE ADDRESS TITLED '' THE NEW TRIBE AND THE REBIRTH OF THE NATION ''DELIVERED BY VICE PRESIDENT YEMI OSINBAJO AT THE 2017 FUTURE AWARD, HELD AT THE FEDERAL PALACE HOTEL, LAGOS, ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 09, 2017.
Protocol:
There are particular moments in the history of Nations when there is a palpable feeling that something new is about to emerge; that the nation can be transformed.
Often it begins with hopelessness and cynicism. It may be that the Nation has laboured under oppressive and divisive circumstances, living with poverty, inequality, bitter ethnic and religious division, and hate.
But in the midst of poverty, corruption, ethnic and religious divisions hope begins to be built in the hearts of some, a new vision is birthed in these people.
Of the number are men and women, young, old, married, single, united by the common belief that the nation can be reborn, that a new nation can be forged from the furnace of pain and despair, that a nation of great values is possible, that the people can be united, that they can together fight corruption, reject the politics of identity and religion and unite around the values common to the attainment of dignity and fulfilment for all.
They are united in the belief that a new tribe can emerge. A tribe of men and women from all tribes, ethnicities and faiths, built on principles, that all persons are created equal, that resources attain their greatest use when they are rendered for the benefit of all, that our best talents must be applied in every task, that we must respect the rule of law and the centrality of law and order, that none will be allowed to steal or waste public resources, that we will prefer and reward excellence and merit, that Government is to create the circumstances for the happiness and prosperity of the majority, that the life of the Nigerian person is our most precious resource, that we must love our nation and love each other, and protect the weak and vulnerable.
This new tribe is one whose ethos is of hard work, whose creed is that all honest labour is dignifying, worthy of respect and reward, and that integrity is not negotiable , that our word must be our bond, that personal desires and ambitions must be moderated by faith, and consideration for others. And so from the many tribes, ethnicities and identities will arise a New People. A new Tribe.
We are at that moment in our history. And it is the historic responsibility of the new tribe to develop an understanding of who we are meant to be as a people, , to develop the capacity to define our place in human history by reaching deeply into the core of our humanity to find the purpose or reason for our existence.
Are we here to live sub-human lives in one form of deprivation or the other? aligned along parochial lines, ignoring merit and value and upholding narrow identities, permitting corruption if it is done by those of our tribe or faith?
In the womb of this New Tribe is the greatness of Nigeria. But Greatness can only come from the willingness of the few to make the sacrifices necessary for the emancipation of the many. This new tribe can build a new nation. I invite you to join the new tribe

Imo State Commissioner Narrates How SARS Operatives Robbed Him On Asaba-Benin Expressway

10 December 0

Ajaelu who took to his Facebook on Sunday, December 10, to give account of his encounter with SARS officers, said he and his co-travelers were robbed by the controversial police unit along the Asaba-Benin expressway.
SARS operatives are best known for harassing, intimidating and robbing innocent Nigerians
He wrote:  I and my sports colleague travelling to Lagos for AG meeting of the Nigeria Cricket Federation was robbed by these so called SARS officers along Asaba to Benin expressway.
The CP of Edo should look into this matter and find this group of police officers who continue to disgrace the police force.
For 2hrs we were held hostage with handcuffs not minding that I identified myself as a commissioner in Imo state. Every money found on us and in our bags were taken, my wrist watch was taken, my pepper spray was taken, other valuables were taken too.
So many times during this ordeal guns were corked and we were told that they will shoot us dead and nothing will happen. Our phones were taken away from us, so that we can’t make any call, the place was so lonely and they forced us to park where their hidden car was parked.
A brown Camry written police by the two sides of it. From that point where we are, you will not see a passing car approach till it zooms past.
Ajaelu said when they were asked to go, he reminded the leader of the operatives that they had no other money on them.
According to him, the six started debating on how much they would give to them.
He continued:  After about 10 minutes one brought 3,500 out of over 40,000 they took. As we were still with the one who brought the money, another officer came with an extra 1,500 and added. We were now been forced to drive off.
Even when we noticed that oil was dropping from our car and wanted to check. They refused and told us to go to somewhere else and do the repairs.
Ajaelu wondered that if as a public officer, he is subjected to such treatment, he can only imagine what innocent citizens are made to face from the SARS operatives.
He called on the Inspector General of Police to flush out the bad eggs in the Nigeria Police Force and bring sanity to the system.
Meanwhile, former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has called for investigations into allegations of harassment leveled against the SARS unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued in series of tweets on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, December 3, Atiku, a former Nigeria Customs Service top chief, noted that the allegations must be taken seriously by the police and the National Assembly.
While urging the two institutions to look into the allegations, he saluted Nigerian youths who started the movement on social media to raise awareness about the allegations.

Uniben school fees increase 2017

22 November 0
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) school fees for new students 2017/18 academic session has been released by the school authority. There were speculations of a proposed hike in school fees like most schools intended doing. Well Uniben has finally joined the league of federal institutions who have increased school fees. Starting this 2017/2018 session, the University of Benin management has announced an increment of almost everything students pay for, from school fees to Hostel fees, and even SUG fees.
The average returning students in Uniben is expected to budget roughly a ₦100,000 to properly settle into the new session.
Though there was a huge increase in the acceptance fee from 49,000 to 70,000 Naira and this is applicable to fresh students only.

The table below itemizes UNIBEN School fees schedule, acceptance fee and other charges for 2017/18 academic session for just new students only (Freshers)
Just like most state and Federal universities, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) School fees reduces as students go higher in levels, so students are therefore advised to read through to get all vital information needed in paying their fees on time.
Late payment would attract extra charges and failure to pay the fees on time would lead to the student inability to seat for their semester examination.
Upon reading of this information, you would be clear about the following;
  1. UNIBEN school fees for 2017/18 Academic session
  2. UNIBEN Acceptance Fee for new students only
  3. Other charges as seen in the table below

UNIBEN School Fees Schedule For 2017/2018 Academic Session

All fresh students are advised to pay their tuition fees for the 2017/2018 academic session early to the designated banks as approved by the school management.

Therefore, UNIBEN School Fees New students for college of Medicine = 90,000 (School fees) + 70,000 (Acceptance Fee) = 160,000 Naira (Total Fee payable for Freshers)
While UNIBEN School Fees New students in other Faculties = 70,000 (School fees) + 70,000 Acceptance Fee) = 140,000 Naira (Total Fee payable for Freshers)

UNIBEN ACCEPTANCE FEE FOR NEW STUDENTS

Please note that Uniben acceptance Fee for new students irrespective of the faculty is 70,000 Naira only and this is to be paid before any other payment is made. Since acceptance fee simply means the student has accepted the provisional admission from JAMB.

Traditional marriage in Nkwerre is one of the cheapest in Igboland today!
The Nkwerre traditional marriage list as harmonised by the Eshi of the Fourth reign, HRH Eze Chijioke Jeki Okwara (IV) makes marriages seamless and non cumbersome.
The  marriage steps in Nkwerre involves four (4) preliminary stages namely:
1. Ajuju,
2. Nduru na Ndulata Nwanyi (Di Abali ano),
3. Nwa okan'ulo, and
4. Ihu onu aku.
Incase you missed, read:Six Important Ways to Save Money and Still Have Your Dream Wedding
"Ekwe nkwefu" is actually the first movement which the intending groom makes to the house of the would-be bride, but it is not regarded as part of the requirements because it's strictly regarded as "Ije Umu Okorobia", since there are no elders in the entourage.

When one gets to the stage of Nwa Okan'ulo, it is assumed that he is rightfully married and can assume all rights over the woman, even though there is still need for Ihu Onu Aku, which is the last stage.

So Brother, just take that bold step today! Nkwerre list is pocket-friendly! Propose to that Nkwerre sister today and thank me later.....

8 Hard Truths About Life

21 November 0

Life is many things. Life is beautiful and miraculous, and it’s wonderful. But there is one thing life isn’t: "Easy". There are times when this is more apparent than others. We don’t always make it any easier on ourselves either; we hold onto notions and habits and notions that are incorrect, ludicrous, or even harmful to us. We walk through life refusing to see simple truths because we’re worried they’ll be too hard to bare, without realizing that accepting them will actually make every day much easier and much more joyful. William Beteet’s list1 describes perfectly some difficult truths that we need to learn to accept.

1. Everyone You Love is Going to Die

Grim as this may sound, realizing that eventually you and everyone you know won’t be around forever will enrich and deepen your relationships. So many people take their loved ones for granted and feel an unrelenting sense of regret when they’re gone. Parents, grandparents, friends — we never know when we may find out that they’re no longer with us. Have you called your parents lately? Call them now. Our relationships are the most meaningful things we have in life and should be cherished.

2. We Give Our Lives Meaning

Buddhists believe that we create our own world with our thoughts and actions. Having a meaningful life, then, is a choice. We don’t have to go out and join the peace corps or end world hunger to have a meaningful life; a bagger at the grocery store can feel just as fulfilled as the CEO of a major company. Often times, we’re too focused on what we don’t have and what we want and this makes our lives feel empty no matter how much we’ve achieved

3. The Perfect Partner Doesn’t Exist

Many people dream of the perfect romance and a partner that will sweep us off of our feet and into the sunset of an eternally happy ever after. In fact, most of us are probably guilty of daydreaming about our “perfect match” sometimes. But how can it affect our real relationships when our partners don’t meet our picture perfect dreams? This doesn’t mean we should settle for someone we’re miserable with, but it does mean that we should always expect to put work into a relationship. Think of it as an artistic masterpiece; you and your partner are the tools and you have to work together to make the canvas beautiful. We can be happy and fulfilled in a relationship, but not if we expect the canvas to paint itself! Check out the article below. It highlights some key things and the basic line for a fulfilling relationship. After learning these, you’ll be less likely to go overboard.

4. Life Is A Game

Why should we walk on eggshells our entire lives, worried about getting something terribly wrong? This life is ours to learn from and experience. We should think of it as a game; decide what it is we want to do in life, learn the rules, and level up. We can never achieve anything or be successful if we’re too afraid to play. Have you ever heard of someone becoming a pro football player without ever setting foot on a field?

5. Everything Ends

This is a lot like the first only it may be a little harder to hear. Nothing lasts forever. We’ll only be young for a little while and then we’ll be old. We’ll fall in love, we’ll fall out of love, or lose the ones we love. We’ll live and then we’ll die. So many people before us have lived, loved, succeeded, failed, and died. We need to remember that we aren’t any different. Rather than being depressed by this, however, we can feel grateful, excited, and even empowered in this life. If things lasted forever, what would make them special? Time and endings make things valuable. We need to appreciate everything.

6. Be Romantic About The Little Things

Since we know now that everything comes to an end, we also know that we need to love everything we can in life. Things can become so mundane when placed into the mundane mind of someone viewing life as “the daily grind.”  Things are beautiful when we take a moment to let it be so, though. Take a different route to work or school, lie down in the grass and watch the clouds, and look up at the stars. Be romantic and the world will always feel magical. Take a day off from the stress and enjoy life! The article below highlights some good ways to slow down and enjoy the end of your week.

7. Be A Realist About The Big Things

Even though we shouldn’t take life too seriously, it’s important that we don’t let our right brain reign all hours of the day. There are some things in life we just need our more analytical mind for. For example, those of us wanting to become famous authors can’t just write some words and then find that, BOOM, we’re a best seller! No. We have to take the appropriate steps to edit, promote, and publish our work. Most things worth doing take time and energy. Basically, everyone has to use their head sometimes. Take a look at this  article for some tips on using your head to get things done.

8. Figure Out A Way Or Don’t Complain

Almost everyone has met someone who does nothing but complain about how his or her life isn’t turning out the way they like it. We either tune it out or feel frustrated with them. We think why don’t they just change it if they don’t like it? But, if we’re honest with ourselves, we realize that we’re not always much better. “That teacher is too picky, her tests don’t make sense.” “I just can’t learn how to do that, I have a condition.”The truth is that complaints rarely change anything and more often than not, they hold us back. We need to be proactive and positive. We need to believe that we can figure out a way. Otherwise, we can keep our complaints to ourselves.

10 Qualities That Make You a Fierce Gentleman

21 November 0

How would you know a Fierce Gentleman walking down the street, and how would you tell him apart from just another Joe Schmoe (excuse me — a Man who has not yet come to the realization that the current global situation was calling him urgently to become a Fierce Gentleman)?
Below is the sure-fire ways to tell if the guy you’re seeing is, in fact, a Fierce Gentleman: the ten characteristics that set the F.G. apart from other blokes.
  1. He takes care of his physical appearance & style. No matter what industry he is in, or what his station in life, the Fierce Gentleman is dressed for success every day. He takes no days off from excellence, and this is reflected in his dress as well as in his attitude. He has cultivated a personal style as a manner of creative self-expression in the world and navigates by his own compass, without waffling in response to “fashion trends.” By itself, this is a necessary but not sufficient condition for a Fierce Gentleman (which we shall abbreviate henceforth as F.G.): plenty of men dress well and take good care of themselves, but not all of them are gentlemen, nor are all of them particularly fierce.
  2. He’s considerate. None of this fake-Alpha machismo crap: He doesn’t cut in line or steal cabs from other people at the end of the night.  To the contrary, he holds doors for people (not just women, although he does hold doors particularly for women), lets others cut in line at the grocery store if they have fewer items than him, and generally goes out of his way to accommodate others and pay them consideration in matters big and small.
  3. He’s chivalrous. His approach to women is an mixture of respect, adoration, and cherishing amusement. He will hold doors for her, doff his hat on her approach, rise if she approaches when he is sitting, take her coat, offer to seat her, push in her chair as she sits. An entire group of F.G.s, seated together when a woman approaches, make for a stirring sight as they all rise simultaneously and offer to take her things or provision her with a seat. Although this may seem old-fashioned and unnecessary at first (and many do say so) women as well as men enjoy it.
  4. He understands that his life is about service to others, not serving himself. This goes beyond being polite and considerate: those are just rules of etiquette and polite society and as such, are meaningless without a deeper conviction. For a F.G., service to others is that underlying conviction. He understands that all ego-gratification plans are scheduled for failure; and, similarly, that his efforts to enrich the lives of all those around him are destined for eventual success. He understands that Nature provides resources to the individual in direct proportion to the scale of the role they have undertaken in the ecosystem; thus, to be about as big an idea as he can possibly manage, he will naturally command resources commensurate with the bigness of his role. You can detect this element in conversation, or by reputation, if the man is very well known and publicly seen to be achieving great things, with great resources (Elon Musk is an example. Sal Khan is another.)
  5. He has done, and is doing, his work. A F.G. works diligently and consistently to improve himself in all ways, and to continually remove the limits on his degrees of freedom in all aspects of life: physical, mental, emotional, financial, sexual, social, spiritual. In this endeavor he is not ashamed to consult experts, enlist aid, invest time and energy and money, and ask for help. Because of this, a F.G. can almost always be seen to be: athletic or working at some physical pursuit, self-aware and introspective, emotionally mature, mentally sharp, knowledgeable and worldly, calm and imperturbable, in control of his financial situation, present and aware, a competent-to-exceptional lover, with both breadth and depth of friendships and relationships, and with a deeper metaphysical perspective on life, the Universe, and everything. Such Qualities are greatly to be desired in a friend, lover, partner, father, husband, and son, and consequently. . .
  6. He is in demand. If you need something done, ask a busy person to do it.” A F.G. is notable by the pace and volume of his output and throughput and does not seem perturbed or winded by what others would consider a blistering pace. This ability to conscientiously and thoroughly execute makes F.G.s highly desirable in any business, even in government bureaucracies, and more precious than gold in new businesses startup where the workload is inhuman and the labor must be born with a maximum of charisma. The F.G. does not become conceited about this ability, however, and will smilingly offer to help others if they are becoming swamped, even if his plate already seems full. Despite all this. . .
  7. He has backbone. Despite being accommodating, considerate, helpful and fundamentally of service, the Fierce Gentleman is the farthest thing possible from a doormat. Because of his intimately awareness of his own limits and his constant striving to live and playing at his edge, he knows what he can and cannot do, and has no qualms about saying “No” or laughing off unreasonable requests or onerous expectations. Because he has done and is doing his “work,” he knows his own weak areas and trigger points, and is very careful to avoid them altogether or navigate around them. Because he knows what he is about in life, he follows his own strong compass with integrity, and categorically refuses to be pulled off-mission by this or that influence or request. A Fierce Gentleman is so consistent and trustable in this regard that a person may set their own compass by his.
  8. He has access to, and follows, his inner wisdom. He may call it God or the Divine Mind Within or insight or intuition or any other name, but the Fierce Gentleman has cultivated it, has regular access to it, and minds what it tells him. He also realizes that within him is an inexhaustible fountain of creativity, and therefore he has laid aside all fear of ever “running out of ideas.” (This may be particularly evident of he is involved in the arts or other creative pursuits.)
  9. He follows his own passions, wherever they may lead. Living in an age of near-perfect access to information and know-how, the Fierce Gentleman takes time to pursue his passions ardently and in a way that expresses his innate creativity. Because of this, he is often a fount of knowledge on an obscure topic you may have never heard of, or have a special skill or talent refined over years of practice that may or may not be valuable or desirable as the world defines such things (and little does he care for the world’s approval!) Or he may have dabbled in a variety of diverse areas, jack of all trades and master of none. A true F.G. may well oscillate through periods of intense focus on a single idea or business or purpose, forsaking all hobbies and passions in the meantime, and it is natural and proper that he should do this: he will return to his passion(s) when a cycle of rest and relaxation follows his next great triumph or achievement.
  10. He is a fierce warrior. Why call him a Fierce Gentleman? So far, his qualities seem to involve a great deal of service, gentleness, and consideration for others. How can such a one be called fierce? Isn’t this word to be reserved for menacing & dangerous wild animals, the violently intense, the threatening and the savage? Well, while all those descriptors could apply to a Fierce Gentleman whose loved ones have come under threat or attack and who realizes that he is the sole line of defense in the preservation of their persons, the word fierce also and equally means: “resolute or strenuously active” “of exceptional quality, exhibiting boldness or chutzpah” and “very, excellent.” These are the meanings we apply when we say a man is a Fierce Gentleman. Although he has principally banished violence from his life, this man is nevertheless a warrior, confronting the biggest and baddest dragons that plague the modern world, brooking no cowardice, shrinking from no challenge, stepping through his own fear and staying brave “5 minutes longer” than the ordinary man, as Emerson said. You will be able to tell this from your dealings with this man. You will be able to feel his strength, unafraid, in each moment. It is impossible to fake.

100 Students Caught As UNILAG Begins Testing Students For Hard Drugs

11 November 0
In a bid to check drug abuse on campus, the University of Lagos has provided a drug test kit in its medical centre to examine students suspected to be on hard drugs.

Prof. Rahaman Bello, outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the institution, confirmed this at a forum with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Bello said that the initiative was necessary because drug abuse was on the increase in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

“Drug abuse is a major problem for every institution, particularly, those in the cities. We have gone ahead in the University of Lagos to address it.

“With the test kit, anyone who is suspected, his or her urine or blood depending on what we want to do, is collected for test.
“The thing about drug is that when you take it, it will be in your blood for a long time, so you cannot say , I did not use it once the test kit detects it.
“Before, we start using the test kit, everyone we picked denied using drug since we could not find any evidence,” he said.
According to him, with the test kit, the university has been able to pin down victims, but granted them amnesty.

He said that although the university’s regulation provided that any student found dealing with drug should be expelled, the management had to warn and rehabilitate them.

“With the rehabilitation, the victims are given two or three semesters to ‘get clean’. By this, we mean they will visit the medical centre on monthly basis to get tested.
“If after two or three visits, you are found clean, we will admit you back to the system, if not you are sent out.
“This we do not to unnecessarily punish them, but to assist them to find a way to regain themselves,” he said.
Bello said that about 100 students of the university were detected to be using hard drugs in 2016.

Six Important Ways to Save Money and Still Have Your Dream Wedding

11 November 0

Although many of us dreamed of our wedding when we were young, we sure wouldn’t have been able to process how much the big day would cost. It’s only after we’ve become adults that the true cost of a wedding really hits home.

Going into debt because of a wedding isn’t exactly the most romantic way to start a marriage, so read on for suggestions to help you save money on your wedding:

Drop the two-month’s salary engagement rule
Do what works with your budget and a stone with significance. There is no hard and fast rule to buying an engagement ring, so don’t sweat over forking over two months’ salary if both of you can’t afford it.
Keep in mind that you have more wedding expenses to battle. Focus more on the significance of the ring instead of the price tag. Perhaps she’ll be happier with an engagement ring that has her birthstone, or maybe she wants a man-made gem or a pre-worn ring with history.
There are plenty of wallet-friendly options out there, so don’t limit yourself to the never-been-worn traditional diamond ring!

Pick a house, not a hotel, for your bachelorette party
Rather than shelling out for a hotel room, why not rent a house instead? You’ll have a more cozy, intimate atmosphere, and everyone will be free to come and go as they please — free of any messy, time-sensitive checkout situations.

Only invite to the wedding people who are in your life currently
If you haven’t seen someone in a long, long time, then they can probably be considered for your cut list. (Think childhood friends and old acquaintances.) A good rule of thumb: you should invite the people who know your fiancé — the people who have spent time with you as a couple, who play a part in your present lifestyle.

Cut the guest list by category
Divide your guests into groups: immediate family, closest relatives, extended relatives, family friends, friends, acquaintances, kids, coworkers, etc. Once you’ve both classified your lists, see if you can trim the list by removing entire categories. Maybe you can both nix the young kids, the acquaintances, and the coworkers. Keep going until exceptions start to pop up, and then evaluate each possible guest individually.

Embrace the digital age for invites
While printed invitations are lovely, the purchase price adds up, especially when factoring in mailing rates. If a simple email invite isn’t your style for anything fancier than a weekend bar night or birthday party, then consider making a personal video to share the wedding details online.

Instead of a wedding planner, get a day-of coordinator
If you find it hard to organise your wedding without a planner, then consider day-of coordinators, who will make sure your wedding day goes off without a hitch. According to Offbeat Bride, “A good DOC will do quite a bit of troubleshooting for you in the weeks prior to your wedding.”

10 November 0

The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha has unveiled the statue built in honor of visiting Liberian president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Although, while appreciating the gesture of the state governor, the Liberian president said she has never received such an honor.
According to her, she has a statue in her Alma mater, Harvard University, but the size of the statue cannot be compared to the one built by the Rochas Okorocha administration.
Shortly after unveiling the statue of the Liberian President, Rochas Okorocha was asked by a journalist why he is building statues and he replied:
“To immortalize people so our children yet unborn can read a piece of them. History is dying in Africa. We must keep history alive. In the next 100 years to come, most of us will not be here but this will stand for children to read stories and mold their character. If leaders are not immortalized, there will not be history for children yet unborn’.

MUST READ! 10 questions every upcoming artist should sincerely ask themselves

10 November 0

Davido, Wizkid and Olamide headies

It’s getting increasingly hard to hit stardom as a fast rising musician. Most of them are in the business for the wrong reasons with no real conviction as to why they are making music or what they hope to achieve with music and that’s why we keep having several absurd ‘Publicity stunts’ all in the name to ‘Blow‘.
Here are 10 honest questions every upcoming artist should sincerely ask themselves.
So Stop! Whatever you’re doing Stop! Go through this with sincerity and re-evaluate your stance in the music industry.
  1. Why do I make music? You must be able to answer this anywhere, and don’t tell me because it makes me happy or to pay the bills, that doesn’t cut it, there must be some honest depth to this answer. Some sort of strong conviction from within, not just because of the life.
  1. What aspect of music am I absolutely great at? What can you beat your chest and say I can compete at the highest level in this regard, maybe not exactly now but in a bit. The standard is not static, if you walk away after seeing where you need to improve, on coming back you would meet a different level of creativity. So where! Writing, rap, singing… where can you fit in and stand up to anybody. You need to know confidently your skill-set or work on a strong point if you lack that.
  1. How long? How long do you intend to make music, firstly you can’t do this for life FACT. So how long and what next, what’s your end game. Where does this end for you and how
  1. What’s the vision? Do you just want to ‘Blow’, get it like Wizkid or DavidoThat’s their story, what’s yours? You need to have a fulfillment point, and you absolutely need vision and direction as to where your own process is headed and what the plan is as you move.
  1. What’s your dream, what’s your reality? So you listen to the J.Cole‘s the Kendricks and you hear their start stories and it inspires you to ‘dream’, but my brother. the point is you can’t totally replicate another man’s dream. Not because of lack of talent or skill but because of reality. So let me hand you the facts, Nigeria’s population as at 2013 was 173.6million, as at 2014 the American population was 318.9million. So clearly you don’t have the same listening/interested population. The music structure abroad is not your reality, there are different stages there, you can have an Rnb concert PACKED, a rock concert PACKED, a metal concert PACKED, a hip-hop concert PACKED. Here we have only one stage, and we call it ‘blow’. We do not have the same structure so you have to study and learn what applies here and cross that with your own dreams and goals.
  1. The record label logic, Can You Justify this? If you work for money, you would value it. So it happens that you are signed or about to get signed. Here’s the thing, so some at the label says lets pay Artist X 1.2million to be on this song and also pay Artist Y 1.5million, mix and master the Music with the ‘best’ sound engineer 150,000, shoot with the best Director with about 2 million, logistics and all you’re headed up to 5 million on one song, and you’re dancing to Burna boy's ‘wetin you see na God e blessing’ you’re not alright sir. Considering further that the music hasn’t been promoted. How do you justify this, how much more will the label spend before you earn that? This is one of the reasons artists and labels fight, just plainly being unreasonable at the start. That 5million can work on a large catalogue of music and can run the project for sometime. Some silly ‘label’ moves defy logic. The reason you’re okay with that kind of spending is because you’re ignorant and you lack personal vision so any move with icing is a good move. Labels can sometimes blur things, keep your feet on the ground don’t rack up pointless debt.
  1. If the label system fails, what next? So we take it that number 6 is where you’re out of a label system, what would you honestly do. If that label drops you today what do you do next. Can you work and spend ‘your’ hard earned money on your own music. Ask yourself this now, because if you can’t pull it together when it falls apart please kindly quit now.
  1. How do you measure your growth? Where were you 6 months ago, where are you now. What kind of opportunities did you attract a year ago and what kinds do you attract now. You must be able to judge yourself critically but! You must be realistic and consider your own path, you can’t judge how far you have come by looking at another artist, they can be a point you look up to, but acknowledge your own successes and failings with perfect understanding that everyone’s process and progress is never the same. Set goals and follow through, have meetings with yourself and sometimes someone or group of people you truly trust to analyse your situation and set targets.
  1. The business, what do I need to know/learn? Digitization (selling the content on iTunes, Vevo and others), marketing, the coperate sector and all that stuff is a broader view of the business. You must outline why things are done, why you would spend this and a logical way to earn. Don’t spend without thought, there should be thought towards your financial management, so you must go out and learn ways to monetize what you have and ways to earn.
  1. God? Yes, God. I don’t know what you believe in or what your religion is but brother there is a God who is in perfect control of events and keeps the world in balance. Without faith in God, you CAN’T do this. Rely on him to guide you and have faith.
